The BioWast2Carbon (BW2C) project, developed by a consortium comprising SustainC, ADAI, the University of Coimbra, and Fravizel, was recently featured in the Expresso newspaper as part of the series “New Ideas for the Forest” — an initiative that brings together innovative proposals aimed at protecting and enhancing Portugal’s forest resources.
The article presents BW2C as one of the most promising solutions for the efficient management of forest residues, with a direct impact on wildfire prevention, emissions reduction, and the production of solid biogenic CO₂, a key raw material for the development of green synthetic biofuels, particularly relevant to the decarbonization of the long-distance transport sector.
